As TAA Youth Ambassadors, Ellie and Amber have noticed that many with Tourette Syndrome (TS) struggle to reach their full potential: not because of their disabilities, but because society often defines them solely by their diagnosis. Too often, youth with TS internalize limiting messages or lose confidence after diagnosis. Through the TAA, Ellie and Amber have seen firsthand how powerful it can be when young people reclaim their narrative by discovering what they love. This session explores how personal hobbies can build confidence and resilience in youth with TS, and how that confidence can translate into self-advocacy. Ellie and Amber will share their personal experiences navigating school, social life, and self-identity with TS, highlighting how discovering meaningful passions has helped them advocate for their community’s needs and build strength and independence in identity beyond a diagnosis.
